Cebu Unveils FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2027 Brand and Venue
FIBA and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas have unveiled the official identity of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2027, confirming that the continental tournament will be staged at the new SM Seaside Cebu Arena from July 10 to 18, 2027.
The July 8 brand presentation marked another formal step in preparations for the first Philippine hosting of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup. Eight of Asia’s leading women’s national basketball teams are expected to compete, giving Filipino supporters an opportunity to watch elite international women’s basketball on home soil.

Logo reflects Cebu and Filipino design
FIBA said the tournament identity combines elements of the Women’s Asia Cup trophy with visual references to Cebu’s official colors, local seal and Filipino weaving traditions.
The launch brought together officials from FIBA, Philippine basketball, national sports agencies and Cebu. Those identified in the official announcement included SBP president Ricky Vargas, SBP executive director Erika Dy and Philippine Sports Commission chairman Patrick Gregorio.
FIBA Asia described the competition as an opportunity for Filipino fans to experience the region’s best women’s basketball and for international visitors to encounter the Philippines’ established basketball culture.
New Cebu arena confirmed as venue
The competition will be held at SM Seaside Cebu Arena, a newly opened venue described in Philippine reports as having approximately 16,000 seats.
Confirming the arena gives Cebu a central role in one of Asia’s leading women’s sporting events. It also expands the Philippines’ experience hosting major international basketball competitions beyond Metro Manila.
Cebu has a large basketball audience, but it has historically hosted fewer senior international national-team competitions than the capital. The Women’s Asia Cup therefore represents both a major sporting event and a significant test for the city’s new arena and event infrastructure.
Opportunity for Gilas Pilipinas Women
Hosting the tournament provides Gilas Pilipinas Women with an important competitive and visibility opportunity.
SBP executive director Erika Dy said the event would give the national program a platform to demonstrate its progress before a home audience. A Philippine-hosted tournament may also help attract greater attention to women’s basketball, encourage younger players and strengthen interest in local development programs.
However, the final Gilas roster has not been announced. The tournament draw, participating teams and any qualification implications should not be assumed until FIBA or SBP issues the corresponding official information.
What happens next
FIBA, SBP and local organizers are expected to release additional operational details as preparations continue.
These should include:
- Confirmed participating countries
- Group-stage draw
- Complete game schedule
- Ticketing information
- Broadcast and streaming arrangements
- Gilas Pilipinas Women roster
- Accreditation and venue policies
Readers should rely on official FIBA, SBP and tournament channels for tickets and scheduling information. Unofficial ticket listings or graphics circulating before formal announcements should be treated cautiously.
The dates are already fixed: from July 10 to 18, 2027, Cebu is scheduled to welcome eight of Asia’s leading women’s basketball teams for a historic first Philippine staging of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.
